Process to Become an Instructor

Becoming an American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor can be quick and easy. The process can be completed in as little as two days and as long as six months. The guide below illustrates the steps you will take to become a certified BLS Instructor.

The Process:

01

Register for the class

Visit our booking site at diclasses.com/become-an-instructor. Select the date and time you would like to take the class from our list of scheduled classes. Within 24 hours of reserving your place in the class, you will receive an invoice.

02

Pay your invoice

After you receive your invoice via email, simply click on the link to pay it. After your invoice is paid, you will receive an email with applicable attachments and information.

03

Complete paperwork

You will complete an Instructor Candidate Application Form, a Certification of Instructor Potential, and the Instructor Compliance Agreement.

04

Verification of Provider Certification

You must posses a valid AHA BLS Provider card. You will send us proof of your BLS certification. If you do not have a current Provider card, don't worry, we can complete your provider class for you before your instructor class (additional fee may apply).

05

Instructor Essentials

Instructor Essentials is the online course that all AHA Instructor Candidates much complete before taking the face-to-face Instructor class with your Training Center/Site. It takes about two hours to complete. After you complete Instructor Essentials, you will email the PDF of the certificate to us.

06

Complete the face-to-face class

You will then take the face-to-face portion of the class, which takes about 4 hours to complete. You will have a multiple-choice test at the end of the class. After the face-to-face class, you will have to show that you have the required materials and equipment, be observed while teaching a class, and complete the process by aligning with us on the AHA Instructor Network.
